About the speaker:
Michael Klarman is the Charles Warren Professor of American Legal History at Harvard Law School, where he has taught since 2008. He clerked for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the D.C. Circuit, holds a D.Phil. in legal history from Oxford (where he was a Marshall Scholar), and is one of the country’s leading scholars of constitutional law and history. His books include From Jim Crow to Civil Rights (winner of the Bancroft Prize) and The Framers’ Coup: The Making of the United States Constitution. In 2020, he wrote the foreword to the Harvard Law Review’s Supreme Court issue, titled “The Degradation of American Democracy—and the Court.” This is a timely conversation from one of the sharpest voices on the Constitution and where American democracy stands today
