SUMMARY:Reflections on Making the Most of Canada with the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join the Harvard Club of Ottawa for an evening with the Right Honourable Joe Clark on his talk Reflections on Making the Most of Canada. His talk will be followed by a Q&A and reception. Seating is limited to the first 100 people. \n\n\n\nThe Rt. Hon. Joe Clark served 25 years in the House of Commons of Canada\, including as Prime Minister of Canada (1979-80)\, Secretary of State for External Affairs (1984-1991)\, Minister of Constitutional Affairs (1991-93)\, Acting Minister of both National Defence and Justice\, and Leader of the Opposition. He led the Progressive Conservative Party from 1976-83 and 1998-2004. In this talk the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark will share his insights and reflections on making the most of Canada. \n\n\n\nFor Harvard Club of Ottawa members\, the Club’s Annual General Meeting will also take place in advance of the keynote. Then\, at 7:30pm\, we will turn the mic over to Harvard fellow Flynn Coleman\, who will discuss her new book “A Human Algorithm: How #ArtificialIntelligence Is Redefining Who We Are”.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this fireside conversation\, Flynn Coleman will discuss her new book A Human Algorithm: How Artificial Intelligence Is Redefining Who We Are\, a groundbreaking narrative on the urgency of humanely designed AI and a guidebook to reimagining life in the era of intelligent technology. International human rights attorney Flynn Coleman examines the immense impact intelligent technology will have on humanity. She argues that it is critical that we instill values\, ethics\, and morals into our robots\, algorithms\, and other forms of AI. Equally important\, we need to develop and implement laws\, policies\, and oversight mechanisms to protect us from tech’s insidious threats. Ultimately\, A Human Algorithm calls us to action to build a more humane future and move conscientiously into a new frontier of our own design. \n\n\n\nFlynn Coleman is a writer\, international human rights attorney\, a fellow at Harvard and Yale\, public speaker and social innovator. She has worked with the United Nations\, the United States federal government\, and international corporations and human rights organizations around the world. DESCRIPTION:We invite all club members to join us for this wonderful event with the award-winning film and television producer Zarqa Nawaz\, creator of Little Mosque on the Prairie. She will share what inspires her to choose her projects\, or rather why they choose her. Most recently she is developing a comedy called ZARQA (trailer: https://zarqanawaz.com/)\, publishing a book called The Rise and Fall of D.I.C.K.\, and developing a heist comedy entitled Essential Service.\n \n The Club’s Annual General Meeting will also take place at this event.
